I may actually do this on my own blog sometime, but for now I just wanted to comment that I actually have read <i>The Scottish Chiefs</i> (although that was about 17 years ago) and thoroughly enjoyed it. At that time in my life I would probably not have read it of my own choosing just due to the size, and I seem to remember thinking it had a really slow start. But my Dad decided it should be part of my education and made sure I was enrolled in the literature elective in which it was included at the Christian school I was attending. Since then I've purchased my own copy, but due to time constraints never gotten through it completely a second time. I really should. I didn't see <i>The Man from Glengarry</i> by Ralph Connor on your list. You might like it. It's one of my other all-time favorites. My wife has read it and liked it, too. Great post idea.
